Der ECO-Feldbuskoppler ist für Anwendungen mit einer geringen Datenbreite im Prozessabbild konzipiert. Dies sind vorwiegend Anwendungen mit digitalen Prozessdaten oder Anwendungen
bei denen nur wenige analoge Prozessdaten genutzt werden
Die Systemversorgung erfolgt direkt am Koppler. Die Feldversorgung wird über ein separates Einspeisemodul angeschlossen
Der PROFIBUS-Buskoppler ermittelt in der Initialisierungsphase den physikalischen Aufbau des Knotens und erstellt daraus das Prozessabbild aller Ein- und Ausgänge. I/O-Module mit einer Bitbreite kleiner 8 können zur Optimierung des Adressraumes in jeweils einem Byte zusammengefasst werden
Weiterhin besteht die Möglichkeit
projektierte I/O-Module zu deaktivieren. Dadurch kann der physikalische Aufbau des Knotens bezüglich seiner Peripheriesignale individuell gestaltet werden
ohne einen Eingriff in eine bereits vorhandene Steuerungsapplikation vorzunehmen
